for the past 10 years or so (1994, IIRC), i've had MB quart 218's in the doors.

both front and rear doors. although in the past 5-6 years, i completely eliminated the rear amp to power the rear doors since i dont want the image being dragged towards the rear.

plus, being single, i hardly carry any passengers.

so, that same pair has been being hammered and just in case they go out, the ones in the rear doors will just take their place...

now, if you search these forums for my opinions on speaker settings for 2nd gens (heck in all cars...), i always say get the biggest and baddest set you can get in the fronts.

after all, when you go to a live musical event, you dont turn around and face the rear.

why do you want sound coming from the rear?

in the car stereo world, 2 channels still is the king.

until multi channel software becomes the norm, STEREO is it.

now if i can, i would also place the subwoofer up front, but space is the thing, so i try to balance the crossover point between the main fronts and the subwoofer so the image doesnt get too dragged towards the rear.

so you have killer speakers up front.

now get a killer subwoofer to supplement the fronts.

then get proper matching amps to power the speakers.

that is what my vehicles have. 2 channels plus a sub.
