Getting the Wheeling Fever
Just picked up this T100 with 168K miles. It's a five speed with power windows/locks etc. Oh yeah, it's a 1997. I think it was a decent deal in view of what I have seen. It does have an intermittent miss, pulled the plugs and they are the single electrode ones so I am changing them. We'll see what happens. Also a exhaust rattle, but I think that is a crack in the heat shield. So far I absolutely love the truck. My old one is a 1993 extracab v6, family is getting bigger so I needed a bigger truck.

1997 T100 extracab, 3.4L, 5-speed, 169K, 4x4. Love the truck, never buy anything but toyota, I tried it once, most miserable six months of my life.

I also just picked up a T100 - mine a '96 4x4 with a '99 3.4l engine. The chassis has 262K, while the engine has 120K claimed. It's been well-cared-for, no rust, drives tight & straight. The recalls have been done - clutch pedal/steering link. So far, it's the nicest truck I've ever owned. It has TRD stickers, but I think it's been repainted. Is there a way to tell from the outside if it has the LSD?

There wasnt a "TRD" T100 available from the factory, the stickers are available at the dealer for the Tundra and Tacoma, i too had TRD stickers on mine for a while...

Thanks for the info. I was hoping I scored better than I thought. I can't believe how well this truck drives with 262,000 miles on the running gear! It's an Xtracab with no power nothing. 5 speed. Guy said his son worked at the local Toy dealer and hooked it up every time something needed done, hence the newer engine. I believe it - I was a little worried about the miles, but then drove it 200+ miles the day I bought it. No rattles, squeaks, vibration - it's better than my last car (Taurus SHO) with only 150K. I'm so stoked -

I paid $4200 for mine, from what I've seen it could easily have brought $5500 maybe more.

Thats cheap compared to me, I paid 7k for one with 184k. However the truck is 90% fine. New engine with only 50k, detailed service records out the wazoo. 4 brand new tires, exhaust done, etc. It looks about 95% and such.

Only thing it needs are brakes/rotors up front and I need new shocks.

I could have done better but it was a impulse buy.

Better jump on that rust on the wheel well asap. Once started it will take right off. Check the vent holes that are in the well. The factory put a mesh cover similar to scotch brite, glued over the holes. The holes keep things dried out. If the mesh is gone, mud gets in there and stays wet forever....Been there. RTV and some scotch brite will do wonders to recover the holes..
