Well this is an odd one, forgive me but I have only owned the T about 2 months. I figured I would at least get 15-17mpg or a bit better. Its a 96 x-cab 3.4L auto with 4.30 gears and 31" tires.

I dont have a lead foot and take it slow, and I have manual hubs that I unlocked. But the light came on at 300 miles on the trip odo. I road on fumes (or so the idiot light said) to school (20 miles) and then back to the station (10 miles) the light was on the whole time. Only took in 19 gallons, I had about another 5 or so gallons? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> The gauge was 100% full last time I filled and past the E when I filled it.

So my guess is that if I was to calculate it out I got 300 miles till I gassed up, I got 15.7mpg 300/19. So I had another 90 miles on it with the light on.. 15x6=90???

The fuel tank was pulled and the fuel pump was replaced before I got it and the lines as well..something dont add up.

your tank should be 20 gallons, which actually holds maybe 20.5-21 gallons topped off, i get 300 miles/tank too but ive got 35s and a lift, if you driving alot in the city at altitude thats not too far off.

Well all of my docutmentation says otherwise, the book says 24 gallons, online says 24 gallons I assume that the last 2-3 gallons are reserve as most cars usually have the light turn on around that point.

Maybe the 97 and up has a smaller tank?

With new tires (265/75 16) I am now getting 19 or so. With 60mph driving got 21mph. With the 32x11.5 15's I was getting 17/18.

I get about 16, but it is over-geared (rpms are high on the freeway) and lifted, so neither of those help. Shoulda gone with 4.56's instead of 4.88's...

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have a 1998 T100, 3.4L V6, 4WD, automatic, stock, with 265/70-16 Dunlop tires. I used it on a business trip last week and get reimbursed for mileage, so I kept an accurate record. I filled it up and drove a round trip of 297 highway miles on I-70 in Kansas. I went 75 mph with the cruise control and air conditioner on. I filled up as soon as I returned home, and got 18.7 mpg. My gas tank holds 24 gallons.
