I just drove by a 1999 Trooper with a blown engine for $1500. I was wondering if I could put my 3.2 SOHC from the '95 into a '99 Trooper?

Roll Me Over
It will bolt in physically just fine, but there will likely be complications in sensors and computer controls and such...OBD I to OBD II I think.

This is a perfect question for Jerry Lemond, he would know exactly what to do. jlemond@bellsouth.net

Body Damage is Cool
THIS IS A LOT MORE WORK THAN IT FIRST APPEARS , THE ENG WILL BOLT RIGHT IN , MOTOR MOUNTS ARE IN THE SAME SPOT, TRANS WILL BOLT RIGHT UP, THIS IS WHERE THE FUN ENDS , THE EX MANIFOLDS ARE DIFF AND ARE NOT INTERCHANGABLE, INTAKE IS COMPLETELY DIFF, RADIATOR IS USABLE , BUT THE ENTIRE WIRING FOR THE ENG CONTROL WILL HAVE TO BE CHANGED OVER TO THE LATER SYSTEM, ALLSO THE CRANK ANGLE SENSOR IN THE 95 ENG WILL NOT TRIGGER THE LATER COMPUTOR FOR THE ENG CONTROLS , THERE WAS A MAJOR CHANGE IN 96,IN THE WAY THE ENG IS CONTROLLED , YOU WILL BE MUCH BETTER OFF AND CHEAPER IN THE LONG RUN ,BY JUST REPAIRING THE 3.5 ENG , THERE ARE A LOT OF CHANGES TO MAKE NOT COUNTING THE A.C. DRIVE AND THE PWR STEERING SYSTEM , THE LATER ENG HAS ONE BLT TO DRIVE ALL THE ACCESS, WHERE THE 95 HAS 3 BLTS AND NON OF THE PARTS ARE THE SAME WHERE THEY BOLT TO THE ENG, JERRY

Ok I was looking for a fast and easy way into a NEW Trooper for cheap. I cant tell you how much I owe you for that info. I may look at the Troop anyways and look into one of those 3.5 crate motors, or learn how to rebuild one... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />
