Nope, just be careful of the fuel and brake lines.
Why not weld them on?

might wanna sleeve them... you don't want to crank down on those bolts and crush the frame rail together.
...or, weld them on... you'll find this is a lot less work for a stronger mount IMHO

suppose, there will be a necessity to remove the rock sliders (one wants a different design, or the sliders are unrepairably rusty, or the vehicle is going to be sold, or else). How difficult is the task of removing a welded rock-slider ?

weld a 1/4" plate to the fram rail, and the "legs" of the sliders to the plates. If the sliders need to be changed/removed, cut the legs off the plates. I would guess that if you sold the vehicle, just leave the sliders on, repaint them and call them "steps". If you want them off for selling, cut them off, the new owner will probably never see the plates still welded to the frame.

How difficult is the task of removing a welded rock-slider ? Not too bad... i've already done mine once to raise them when I installed a 3" body lift. I'm not gonna say it was fun, but only took me a Sat afternoon to cut them off and reweld. -Rob

i was told that welding to the frame comprimises the strength of the frame and should be avoided in favour of drilling hole, which have no effect on the frames strength.

If you're that worried, weld diagonally, not horizontal or vertical to the rails and you won't have to worry about that arguement.
depending on how many holes you have to drill to adequetly support the rails... and especially if you don't take the time to sleeve the holes... I would certainly think drilling holes could change the structure of the frame rails as well.
it all depends on execution.

plan on spending about 4 hours at least drilling all those holes. Plus the back ache that comes along with them. That is a major pain in the <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> Not only that but I can just about gaurentee that not all the holes are going to line up and you will spend even more time boreing them out. Highly reccomend welding on a 45degree. My 2cents but thats not worth much usually <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

I couldn't agree more. Drilling through the frame even using good drills (I ended up using a hole hog for slower rpms) is a miserable experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Weld em up, you won't be sorry.
