Need a Spot
I am in the middle stages of replacing a timing chain. I have pulled the head, and my intake and exhaust valves are pretty crudded up. My mechanic friends have recommended replacement. Does anyone know where I can get a kit or set to replace everything that won't break the bank? I also need to get the head machined. So, I was wondering if anyone knows if I could find a new head with the valves preassembled, and if so how much?

The other thing I'm wondering about is a good way to clean out the intake manifold, throttle body, and everything in between. The whole assembly is just caked with crudd. Any suggestions?

Find a shop that will throw it in their hot tank or I used a small parts washer (tub with solvent pump) and let the solvent run though each runner for a day or so then brushed out the soften gunk. Oven cleaner is also supposed to work well, although may discolor the aluminum.

I almost forgot. Is it ok to rebuild the top side of the engine without doing anything for the lower half? I am trying to keep it stock. I don't want to do anything special with the valve rebuild.

That is what I did on mine. Bottom half was in fairly decent shape, maybe 3 years on a rebuilt block.
