I installed the fan and controller Saturday, I expected it to take a bout 3 hours but alas it took 7 hours. Removing the mecanical fan assembly was not difficult. Removing the a/c condensor fan was a little more difficult but only because the grill had to be removed first. The shorter replacement alternator belt I used is a Gates K040330 (14mm x 855mm), I would not reccommend you use a shorter belt than this.
The most difficult part of the install was mounting the fan in the existing fan shroud. It took several hours to figure out the mounting and to fabricate the mounting hardware.
The controller installed on the driver side fender pannel just behind the headlight. The wiring included with the kit was long enough and I routed the power wiring, oem temprature sensor, fan power, and the a/c sensor lead across the radiator fan shorod, I attached the wiring in three places with zip-ties. I connected the ignition sens leat to an existing wire on the aftermarket cruse control.
I programed the fan controller as per the included instructions, 160 degres F for low temp and 200 degres F for high temp. The fan comes on and runs at 50% at the low temp and increases in speed as the temp goes up until the high set point when it switches to 100%. If the a/c is turned on the fan will run at 100%.
I did take pictures but I don't know how helpful the will be because there is not much to see.
Also a note, you do not have to remove the top radiator hose to remove or re-install the fan shroud.
If any one is intrested in the photos I will be happy to email them to you. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
Installed mine in about 2 hours...already had everything removed. Made some spacers and attached fan to the stock shroud. It moves alot of air and cools it down in about 20 seconds. A little noisy but it isn't like I've gotta turn up the radio! It has a small space around the shroud and does not touch the radiator.
The guy I bought it from on ebay sure sent it fast...ordered it Sunday night and it was on my door step Wednesday, UPS Ground. I did not remove the AC condenser fan. Will trick out the wiring this weekend. Didn't notice any difference in performance and don't really know what mpg improvements I'll see. But it is in and works well.
It is a great Saturday project.
