Well I called in on the stealer today,

Good news, that is your VIN, their system recognised it straight away
once they understoood it was a PJ imported from Japan..... If I wanted a part for the UK truck I would have said SHOGUN <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" />
They even managed to pull up a picture, but there the good news drys-up.
Your part is not available seperately, not suprising really.
But we could not identify 100% which part you actually need <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />
The parts guy thinks its the regulator, which appears to include the inner handwheel, does that make any kind of sense to you?
Cost, ú94.23 + sales tax (17.5%) ~ $210, I could not get the part no. as the guy was flipping from screen to screen (intensionally me thinks <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/oink.gif" alt="" /> )
Managed to get a price for the seal, ú152.35 + tax ~ $340. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />

When I got to the recall his pc just got pissy & fellover <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" />

I've called a couple of yards, but this seams to be a common problem & the part you need is a bit like rocking horse sh1t, hard to come by.

Phil if you let me have your VIN I'll see what I can find out on recalls for you both later in the week.

I'll post back if a yard comes back with one.

On a side note, the parts guy said there is only one CD for the imported PJ's in the UK, located over the net in the main UK Mitsu parts depot. Might be worth asking if your local stealer could get a copy.

Wow, Steve, what a solid guy for the effort... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

On the part, this is probably a long shot, but the Isuzu Amigo had a similar sunroof with it's "midified j-top" styling. There has historically been some commonalities between Zus abd Mitsus. Plus the whole JDM car industry uses a lot of the same suppliers. (Aisin...)

That roof never made it to the states AFIK. I wonder if an Amigo might get you what you need.

Wow Steve! Thanks for checking! We knew that certain things would be difficult to source.

My chassis number is V24-4006307. Be very interesting to see what recalls were done, if any?

Drew, I pulled part numbers off CAP Japan, but I don't know if they'd do you any good? I'm still looking around to see if there's a NA equivalent... thanks for the headsup on the Amigo! I'll see if I can check that too...

As far as VIN. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> The only one I can find is the new one they put on once imported last month. Basically useless. I can't find the Japanese one anywhere on the vehicle, window pillar included. So I think i am SOL on the VIN idea, but thanks.

There is really no such thing as a VIN as we know it in NA for Japanese vehicles. Our NA Mitsus use a 17 digit vin, starting with "J", but the Japanese versions start with L for genIs and V for genIIs. Drew, all we have to use are 10 digit chassis numbers. Here in Alberta, we can use this number as our VIN, but I guess you're not so lucky? Do they charge you to create a VIN out there, or is it just assigned? The Chassis number is the one you found in the wheelwell, but it should also be on your info plate on the firewall.

Wow guys, thanks for all the info. Extra thanks to Steve <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

I believe the "regulator" you speak of is the correct part. Seems like the hand crank is connected to the cog in the picture, and all parts are housed inside a steel metal case.

Here's the plan :

Hope we get some parts vehicles as promised into BC. If nothing comes by Nov...

(b) Steve you may have a cheque sent to you for 94 pounds ! Can't have a leaky sunroof as you Brits know.

( OT...workin on my europe airline licenses for BA or Virgin hopefully )

Interesting info on the VINs
The importing company had the new VIN installed when i purchased the vehicle. Either they didn't know about the chassis VIN , or couldn't read the Japanese !...or again possibly not allowed to use it in BC.

I still can't get used to the left hand rear-view....backed into someone yesterday <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> only a scratch though <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

Hey Stevie... if they have swb sunroof hardware to fit Drew's shorty, I wonder if they'd still have an intact rubber sunroof lip guard (the weatherstrip that fits around the edge of the glass)? Mine is completely sun-rotted...
