Getting the Wheeling Fever
Transmission oil and filter is new, and fine. I just put a used transmission in my rodeo, and the reverse is messed up. It takes about 8 seconds for rev. to ingage, then if i give it any amount of gas, its feels like its kicking out of gear. I added Sea Foam Trans Tune, thinking maybe something was gummed up from the used trannie setting around. after a week it still hasn't gotten any better.
The only thing im concerned about with my installation is the sending unit that mounts on the shifter fork on the trannie, (has about a dozen wires going into it) there is slotted holes in it for adjustment for something, only about 1/4" of adjustment. I tried moving my shifter towards Park and Drive thinking maybe the linkage wasn't adjusted right, but it doesn't get any better, anywhere in between park and drive.
any suggestions????
I got the tranny for $300.00 and it has a 2 mo warrenty, im not looking forward to having to change it again. its drivable, but what can i do to correct this, all the forward gears work perfect.

Is the Sea Foam still in there? You're supposed to drain it, change the filter, and put fresh fluid in after a certain amount of miles (I'm wanting to say 20ish).

If it's not going into that gear, then it's not getting enough pressure to do it. I had an Eclipse that did the same thing, but it was all gears. I would have to sit there trying to go forward or backwards for about 20 minutes to go anywhere after it had set long enough to get cold. I ended up dropping the valve body and cleaning it. After that, it'd work just fine ... until it got cold again. I got tired of it doing that so I just traded it off for my trooper. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" />

Man your killing me, Yes the foam is in it yet, i just put a new filter and fluid in it when i installed it, and hate to spend another $85.00 on another filter and fluid to chance that its going to do the same thing. And thats my cost, retail for the fiter kits is $100.00.
The way i read the can, they recomended adding the sea foam to every oil change, and leave it in.

Ok. Here's off their website ...

Quote
For best results use 1/2 to 1 pint SEA FOAM TRANS TUNE in the transmission fluid prior to a transmission flush or fluid and filter change. Drive at least five miles shifting into all gears. If you are not able to drive the vehicle, shift into all gears for about 3 minutes with the brake or parking brake applied. This will allow SEA FOAM TRANS TUNE to clean transmission valves and parts in each area.

But it also does say ...

Quote
When additional cleaning is necessary add 1/2 pint of SEA FOAM TRANS TUNE to the transmission fluid and change the transmission fluid on a regular service basis.

So, it looks like you're ok with it in there still. But I'd still change it to get out anything it might have loosened up. Who knows, maybe it cleaned up enough that it is now clogging your filter?

WHAT? I can get that filter/gasket for $27.99 and ATF is only a couple bucks a quart.

Where at richard??? Fishers, Napa, and everyone else around here is $60.00 + at my cost. retail is over $100.00. i couldn't find anything on the net lower than $60.00 plus shipping.
The trannie is still slipping in Rev. only. Im going to take it up to the Salvage yard next week to wheel and deal, to try and get some of my money back on the used trannie they sold me. Im not looking forward to replacing it again. ide sooner take my chances and remove the valve body, and hope a good cleaning will do.

That was at Oreilly Auto Parts. Not sure if you have them around you or not ... don't think you do.

I'd be more than happy to send you one. Just PM about it if that's the case.
