That's so if the computer finds any fault (check engine light comes on), you can hook those wires together and pull the code telling you what fault it found. Then that gives you an idea of what may be wrong ... or it at least helps you find the general area.

Thanks for the FYI. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

As you can see from the pics, I have it just about done.

I painted the brackets for the fan last night. It turned out really nice. Allot better than I thought it would. And it holds the fan perfect! I used some stick on foam stripping under the fan to keep it from wearing on the radiator. Hopefully it takes care of the vibration sound I was hearing.

IÆm waiting on an adapter for the new oil sensor. The threads on it are ôBritishö so I need to adapt that to the engine. Which is metric I guess. The dude at the hydraulic store looked at the threads and ordered what he said was right thing, so well see.

Well everything is done except the mounting of the oil pressure sensor. Which I can't do until next week when I get an adapter for it.

Alright! I did my first drive. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> It went pretty well. Ther is a fair bit of sound comming from the head. not sure if its anything.

I still need to readjust the distributor position. ItÆs turned all the way to the right and its sitting at 14 BTDC. And itÆs supposed to be at 12 BTDC, I think. But my first run went well with it at 14.

My electric fan is still vibrating when it first kickes on, so it must be the bearings in the fan. So IÆm going to have to pull the thing apart. But it will me a lot easer now that I can just pull 4 bolts out instead of having to cut those little plastic things that used to run through the radiator.

The oil pressure gauge works well. At idle when I just pulled back into the driveway, it was sitting at 30 psi. When youÆre driving it, it goes up to 50 or 55 psi. IÆm guessing that good???

I was a little concerned about the noise that was coming from the engine, so I pulled the valve cover off and had a look. I found that one valves lash was way off. So I tightened it up so spec. I also re-torqued everything. The head bolts looked good. One did turn little, but the others looked good.

Well most of the sound I was hearing was the improper valve lash. I just took it for a drive and itÆs allot quieter now that I adjusted it. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

On another subject; I took the "old" block down to the machine shop. They pulled it apart and said there was nothing at all wrong with it. So the sound I had been hearing must have been something other than the bearings in the block...

Anyway IÆm at a loss. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> I guess we will see if this one makes any sounds, and go from there. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

I've had mine set at 14 for years now and no issue. Indiana is low enough elevation and stays cool enough (rarely gets above 100*) it shouldn't become an issue. I don't know how that translates to Texas; but this time of year you should be fine.

Well IÆm going to be moving back to the northwest in a few weeks. So shortly IÆm going to be driving the thing in pretty cold weather. But IÆll be in the 4-5k altitude range. Not sure what kind of difference that makes.
