I've never seen a timing chain break in any vehicle. Never heard of one breaking in a Jeep. Usually what happens (rare on an inline 6), is the chain and sprockets wear to the point where it eventually skips a tooth or two and the engine will no longer run but no other damage is done to the engine. My 4.0 cherokee has over 250,000 miles on the chain and is going strong. The timing chain should be the least of your worries at this point. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
