would there be any other reason that the dshaft might've ripped like that besides vibration/it being out of balance?

ie - ujoints not greased enough, dshaft too long, it hitting/rubbing against the old carrier bearing hanger ass'y, something w/ the rear diff, something wrong w/ the yoke, the pinion angle being off too far, the diff flange + the tranny flange having different angles... anything?

I just want to make sure I'm not too far off thinking that this is really caused by the vibrations from lack of balancing. The shop owner WILL NOT stop saying that it was because it's too long. I don't think 3.5" over the standard 60" is going to make THAT much of a difference.
