There is no XS model of rodeo.

Base S model
Upper LS model
Loaded (later years) LSE model

Sounds like you might have an S model

Ok guess I was wrong. I never saw an XS model. Searching the web I only see it listed as being avaliable on '91 and '92 model years (I dont know much about early first gens). For those years S was base model, XS was mid range, and LS was top.

Apparently dual airbags werent available till '95, no idea about driver side bags.

Usually if its an S model I dont think its marked, the upper scale models usually have badging saying which they are.

I am not 100% on these, but I believe there are a few small variances that can be noticed....at least in the 95.5-97 so might be the same for pre 95.5

LS
upgraded cloth seats(not a linen like cloth, but a softer cloth)
split rear seat(60/40 I believe)
chrome bumper/mirrors
two-tone paint(champagne rockers)
Leather lined steering wheel

Those are the main things I notice. I believe an XS had chrome bumpers, but I don't know about mirrors. Mainly, the two-tone paint is key LIke this: on the LS only

Of course it could have been repainted.
XS(at least this is a 92)

I know some of these were probably options in the S/XS model, but most people seem to have stuck with the basics of each package.

My 92 XS rodeo had a crome front bumper, crome end caps on the rear. The tiny fender flares were crome. Rearview mirror's crome as well. Power nothing except it did have the rear window wiper. The back seat wasn't 60/40, but just a bench that would fold down. 4.56 gears which my friends 92 ls didn't have. Oh and no cloth on the doors.

HOWEVER the two tone paint isn't the only colors that they were. Mine was all black, but it did have some designs on it.

sounds like my 91 XS, My newly purchased 93 only has these differences.
91 xs=
chrome bumpers.
3.1L
93?=(its not marked with anything.)
3.2L
Black bumpers
extra pocket in the radio consule
rear window defrost and wiper
Pretty much the same interior
No air bags
The bodies are identical except the 93s grill dips down in the center, where the 91s is flat across the bottom.
Both have ABS, A/C, Cassette, and No Cruise contol, or power windows.

Sounds like an XS. I believe the S still had power windows/locks.

Also, clarification on my earlier post. The two-tone paint, is on the LS. They are the only ones I have seen come from the factory with that champagne color on the bottom.

It greatly depends on the options you purchased too. I purchased the 'preffered equipment package', which included power windows and locks, cruise, tilt wheel, intermitent wiper, A/C, various other options... Priced out to be about the same as the base model LS with. I just didn't like the two-tone paint and chrome bumpers...

The only thing the LS has that I couldn't get as an option was the 60/40 seat. I'd love to get one now... what do you suppose my chances of are finding one in a bone yard somewhere?

As far as I know, the 95.5 model was the first year that passenger side airbag was available.
