The engine is in: ![[Linked Image]](http://thumb7.webshots.net/t/57/557/6/78/96/2239678960042310107WWbcWy_th.jpg) And it's alive! Starts right up and seems to idle just fine. Everything sounds fine but I stopped it to check fluid levels and I smell gas. I'm thinking it must be running pretty rich, until I see a huge wet spot under the engine. Fuel leak, bad one too. I look up from under the truck and find the high pressure fuel line is dripping wet. After more brief testing it's coming from here: ![[Linked Image]](http://thumb7.webshots.net/t/28/28/8/17/44/2273817440042310107dJnTQo_th.jpg) I tried tighten the joint more but it didn't help, still just spraying fuel out. I talked with Mike @ ORS yesterday and he thinks the fitting adapter must be in backwards, but today I got it apart and it was in correctly. Here's a pic of the end of the 5VZ fuel hose: ![[Linked Image]](http://thumb7.webshots.net/t/59/159/2/49/18/2048249180042310107GxfdPt_th.jpg) Here's a pic of the end of the ORS adapter that screws into it: ![[Linked Image]](http://thumb7.webshots.net/t/18/18/4/48/74/2417448740042310107PSdxdV_th.jpg) Any ideas why this connection won't seal up? I did notice both parts are steel. Is that cool to have a steel into steel compression fitting or is there some trick I'm missing here? It's Saturday now and ORS is closed until Mon.

AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it lookes like there should be an o-ring of some sort on that fitting. most fuel lines usaly seal up with a oring or a copper washer plus the flare. id go get a fuel safe oring and see what the results are

I had thought about trying a little teflon washer or something, but I decided not to experiment with trying stuff because the results of failure down the road later could be catastophic.

from the looks of it a flat copper washer would seal that right up. an example of were those are used are the banjo bolt for the inlet of the fuel rail on the 22re. also they are used on a ton of brake calipers.
so this is all asuming that were the fittings go together there is a joint were the washer could go, like the lip on the end of that adadpter fitting and the lip in side the other fitting attached to the hose is flat and mates up. if so than that should be a the right fix so probably no bugs down the road.
probably only becuse im a mechanic and nothing is perfect, and it makes me lots of money because of it <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Oh I hadn't thought of that. I've got a couple of those copper banjo gaskets. I'll look into that, thanks!

Well the bango gaskets aren't thick enough. I would need some thicker than the edge of a nickel (about .075") I guess I could fab some up out of some thick alumunim or copper.
