Coach what I advise is to cut the wires on the ignition box on the box side of the plug.. Then attach to the purple and the orange from the box to the purple and orange NEAR the dist... and on the firewall side of the dist plug.
Cutting the wires and making the ONLY route for the lectricity to be from the box straight to the dist.
I have never found one done correctly that would not fire promptly.
You WILL need to reset the timing after it fires.
I use two different colored wires so I will NOT be confused as the purple to purple and the orange to orange is necessary.
