My plan for mine is to cut out the sides and replace with a removeable aluminum frame w/ Lexan windows. Leave the top and back window intact. Basically this is the same way I use my Kayline top, just want something more secure. When I ran a few times w/ no top, I never cared for the lack of a top over the back, the sun beating down on the back of your neck all day was pretty draining. So after getting the Kayline, I have never folded down the top, only rolled up the sides and back.

As I said in the PM. 5 Combinations of tops.

1) not top at all (cool)
2) my homemade full length safari top (cool)
3) my custom 1/2 top without vinyl protion (open, still cool)
4) my custom 1/2 top, with vinyl and window (still cool, best for A/C in Arizona summer.
5) the rear 1/2 of my top bolted on, looking like a full standard top.

I found an old Pirate thread that 4Crawler is talking about (I believe anyways). It is also a very trick set-up. I still gotta get pics of how my top snaps on with the flat bar around the edges. Give me a few weeks, 'cause I'll be switching to the safari for the winter and everyone will have a better idea of just how this thing is done.

Hm, funny you bring this up, I am loking for a trashed (no glass or L-trim needed) top to cut up for a frame and targa-style project. Basicallt cut out a huge hole in the top so that it is essentially sides only. Then use vinyl to cover the whole thing, snap it to the fiberglass leftovers.
Mine is still in good shape so I don't really want to touch it.
