Body Damage is Cool
Right on man, simple shade for passengers in the rear. Do you worry at all about rain? It rains so little here that if it did, (and it has), what gets wet, gets wet. I've had to pull the body plugs from under the back seat to get it out. Only stinks for a few days in the garage <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />

Doesn't rain in Sacramento from late April until
mid-October. So that is not an issue.
If I'm certain its going to rain on the trail, then
I put my regular top on. Otherwise, just bring a
plastic tarp just in case. Light rain... who cares.

It was a pic of a 4runner with the same cut as the one with the soft top you have. I dont know why the pic didnt come up let me check on it.

That's funny, I'm literally doing the opposite - cutting the top out like a huge sunroof, will cover with vynil so it can be rolled back.
Maybe if I' mreally slick I can get 2 tops out of it!

Here is a closeup of the rear part of the top.
You can see the gap in between the layers at 2 points. This pic was taken before I painted it to
match the white color code (original top was black).

I like this configuration because it provides shade for the passengers and its easy to get stuff in and out of the back, and nimble passengers can just climb in over the side.

Whitetoy, soem questions on cutting the factory top.
1 - what kind of tool is idea? I can imagine that a scrollsaw would give a nice straight cut, but mess and awkward as hell. Sawzall maybe?
2 - is it all fiberglass, or is there metal reinforcement in there? It's be nice to know before hitting something w/ a saw.
3 - does that piece you have flex a whole lot?
