Hope someone can shed some light on this problem for me.

On two of my Pajero's (2.5 diesel and 2.8 diesel) I have fitted steering dampners with return springs. After a short while, I've noticed that at low engine speed, the steering judders and the pump makes a squealing noise. Now, the belt's not slipping, and there is plenty of fluid on both. I've since taken the dampners off, but the problem still remains.

Any hints?
