Questions regarding parts, and where to get them... #755485 10/03/06 01:04 PM

I am recently going to be swapping out my Cylinder Head with a new Head from AMC, I am also going to be replacing my Timing Belt as well.

Where is the best place for me to get a timing belt and should I get a new tensioner as well at the same time?

Also what gaskets will I need to put everything back together, I have a header and not the exhaust manifold.

Also I am currently talking with Joe about ordering the Diff drop bracket and I am going to have to replace my CV boots, maybe even the joints as well here shortly. best place to buy CV joints and boots? The boots are badly ripped up and I will need to do so before winter, so I don't get any kind of crap in my CV joints.

I also have a new 3" body lift sitting at home waiting for me to get back inport so I can install it. Where can I go in the Seattle area that will weld the new shifter extensions on for me? I am pretty sure I can install the pucks myself.

Sorry so long of a post, but I am trying to get as much stuff done to my rig while I am still out here so I can take it up into the mountains, I would really like to run the Naches trail before I leave. I am due to rotate out of the PNW sometime next May. Maybe even sooner. I will soon be making E-6 and as a present to myself I will be buying new gears and a Tera low kit, but I have to advance to the next higher paygrade before I do that.

Thanks for your help..

Bill

I've found www.rockauto.com to be pretty good for non-oem stuff... but I did get OEM parts in several of my orders. I think all the on-line parts houses are pretty much the same network of parts dealers...

Importec sells a lot of OE brand parts and higher quality aftermarket stuff too. depending on the part some of their prices are super low, some not- you have to compare & shop selectively.

I've been doing business with them for years & the customer service is top notch. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I have used RockAuto with No Problems and they also have a core return so you do get some money back. They had me sold On my Fuel Injectors when I saw the Price. 146.99 for a set of 4 and with the 12.00 each on core's I still had money to put in to other Parts.

Ok, but which gaskets should I get besides the head gasket, and should I replace anything else other than the timing chain while I have it open, maybe the oil pump?

which gaskets should I replace other than the head gasket when installing a new head?

for sure cam oil seal. intake & exhaust manifold gaskets depending on age & condition of originals. with everything apart down below, perfect time to replace the seal on the oil pump and crank if warranted.
