I HAVE NEVER SAW ONE WITH THAT DESIGN VLV CVR , IF IT IS NOT AN INDUSTRIAL ENG , AND APPARENTLY ISNT , IT MUST HAVE BEEN MADE BEFORE ABOUT 1980 OR EARLIER ,THAT IS WHERE ALL MY INFO STARTS FOR ALL THE ENGS THAT WERE AVAILABLE IN THE U.S. JERRY

Jerry thats what i was thinking myself but i did find this on an Austrailian Rover site.

1981: An Isuzu 4BD1 3.9-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine was a factory fitted option in Australia.

If I were a betting man I would also say that the engine was produced on or before 1980 because I have done quite a bit of research and have found no type of picture to confirm the engine.

That's not a 4B series engine, it has similarites to the 4B series but the throttled air intake is a major departure.

In NZ we had Isuzu trucks in the early 80's which were badged "Isuzu-Bedford", we're talking pre-runner to the NPR series of around 1985.
A neighbour had one which had a 3.9 litre engine with a lower output than the 3.3L 4BC2 which came in the first NPR's.

The truck model may have been a K20 or something similar. The Isuzu parts dealer had a wall poster showing the trucks from way back then, but I have moved and can't refer to it.

Regardless, if that rocker cover will fit my 4BD1T then I want one. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thanks Jerry, I didn't realise the steel rocker covers were two pieces. I'll try to pull mine apart for a look.

I think my 4BD1T is around 85 vintage, japanese spec with the IHI turbo otherwise they all seem to look the same.
