I had a 33x9.5 on an 8" rim as a spare. It worked, but the wheel stuck out more than I cared for. I think airing down would very difficult and risky and with such a narrow tire, you're probably more likely to air down than most.

If you have a choice I wouldn't go any wider than 7", but I assume you're trying to same money by stick with what you got.

If you wanna save cash, you could probably fit them on stock Toyota rims, which could probably be had pretty cheap. By doing that, you also could more easily run that tire with a low lift, which it sounds like you got, and not worry about rubbing. Paint the stock wheels black or grey and I don't think anyone would notice the difference. It would kind of have that cool overseas Australia truck look with the narrow tires. Kind of like this only taller tires>
