....about the 3.2SOHC...He said that was a domestic engine,....I guess they don't use the 3.2 in Japan... well it was made in japan...if they didn't sell them there, did they sell another ,similar, variation that would work. I'm feeling a JLEMOND post coming on......(i hope) //bc

What I was told was that the 3.2 was for the domestic market(USA)..Don't know how true that is...Rising Sun does give a limited guarantee...I like my Troop..its a good running truck...at least up until two weeks ago,so I don't mind putting money into it,if it will last a few more years..my old engine had 172k on it before it ate a rod bearing.I'll let the forum know what the costs with shipping would be...I'll end up doing the swap myself,so I can save some $$$ there.......................................

NOPE THEY WERE THE SAME ENGS IN JAPAN AS THE U.S. 3.2 SOHC AND 3.2 DOHC , ALONG WITH THIS ONE REAL EXOTIC POWER HOUSE THE 2.6, IT WAS ACTUALLY AVAILABLE IN JAPAN IN THE TROOPER WITH AN AUTOMATIC, MUST HAVE BEEN A REAL THRILL , ALONG WITHT THE VARIOUS DSL,S,, SOME OF THE 3.2 ENGS HAD A LITTLE DIFF ENG CONTROLS ON CERTAIN YEARS AS THEIR EMMISSION STANDARDS WERE NOT QUITE AS STIFF AS THE U.S.,PROB WONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGS , I USED TO BUY THEM ALL THE TIME WHEN WE WERE RUNNING THE SHOP FULL TIME , NEVER GOT A BAD ONE , IN FACT GOT TWO ISUZU ENGS ONE ON THE SAME PALLET, BOTH WERE 2.6 WITH DIFF FUEL INJ SYSTEMS ON THEM AND THEY WERE BRAND NEW ENGS , HAD NEVER BEEN RUN, THEY STILL HAD THE ASSEMBLY LINE SEALING TAPE ON THE WATER PIPES AND PLASTIC PLUGS ON THE WIRING HAENESS, LATER FOUND OUT THEY WERE BARRIER CRASH TRUCKS (PICKUPS), SO THEY WERE NEVER RAN.. JUST HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT THE IMPORTER AND SEE WHAT KIND OF WARRENTY YOU GET , JERRY

I had a great experience importing my diesel. There are a number of shady operators in the engine importing business - at least I recall hearing many horror stories from kids trying to buy performance Honda engines etc. through import houses. Best to go with one that is established and has a good reputation - worth the extra money every time. Also, make sure you use a credit card so you can dispute the charges should the worst happen.

I did it a few years ago and never had a problem with the one I got. They go in and rebuild all the engines and test them out prior to shipping them to the customers.

ALL 92-95 TROOPER 3.2 SOHC AND THE DOHC ARE INTERCHANGABLE THE RODEO -93-95 ARE THE SAME ALLSO , TOO INSTALL THE DOHC IN PLACE OF THE SOHC YOU JUST USE THE TOP END MANIFOLDING AND THE ELECTRICS FROM THE SOHC ON THE DOHC IT IS ABOUT A 98% BOLT UP, ANYTHING AFTER 96 IS GOING TO BE AN OBD11 ENGINE, AND THE ENG CONTROLS ARE COMPLETELY DIFF,YOU HAVE TOO WATCH WHICH YEAR YOU ARE GETTING , GENERALLY SPEAKING IF THE IGN COILS ARE MOUNTED ON THE VLV CVR AS IN COIL ON PLUG THEY WILL NOT INTERCHANGE WITH THE TOP MOUNTED FRONT OR REAR COIL FIRED ENG, WITH OUT A LOT OF REWIRING ,IT IS NOT THE ELECTRICAL CONTROL ALLTOGETHER BUT THE CRANKSHAFT IS DIFF IN THE WAY IT TRIGGER THE ECM AND THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGABLE , JERRY
