Get the butt connecters and the shrink wrap.Go to wally world or hardware store and buy a propane torch ($10-$15),flux paste($2-?)and rosin core solder.Prepare the butt connecters by sanding the inside of both ends. You can try sanding your wire but may not be needed.Slide shrink wrap over cable, make sure to keep away from heat of torch for now.Smear flux paste inside the butt connecters.Push bare wire ends into connecters.Have a wet rag in bucket close by.Light the torch and aim the heat at the middle of the butt connecter.Have solder unrolled and touching where wire is in connecter. When solder starts to melt,go around the edge of connecter and push in on it so it will flow towards the middle inside of connecter.Do the same onthe other end.If the solder won't flow or starts to stick.Add more heat. Now cool it by wiping with cold wet rag.Slide shrink wrap over connecter and shrink away. Now do the other cable.Hope this helps!!

"audio" wire should work, it will just be really overpiced. high end wiring is usually a scam. sure it can make some difference, but not enough to justify the cost in most cases. things like sanding the paint off where your ground cable goes make a much bigger difference than having 99.9999999999% oxygen free wire.
