Didn't take long at all. The hardest part of this install is drilling the hole to run the line through the firewall. Aside from that, I tee'd the line going to the waste gate actuator, and hooked the new port up to my new firewall-crossing-hose, which went to the back of the guage.
I haven't permanently installed the guage yet: its currently sitting on one side of my lower storage box below the double DINs, and doesn't have any backlighting yet (eventually, I think I'll be putting it with some others on my A-pillar). But it does work - I took a trip around the neighborhood, just to see where I was boosting at: it looks like max is 11-12 psi, coming on around 3200 rpms or so. Wonder if I even come off boost when doing my highway commute? We'll see...
In any event, an easy install. I deserve it, after my block heater fiasco! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/baby.gif" alt="" />

I just hooked up a temporary boost guage today and I was only running 10.5 lbs. of boost and that was at about 2700RPM. so I now realize that when im on the highwas doing 105km/h I am at full boost, it sure is going to suck when I hook up that boost controller haha.

Yup, I'm boosting at 12psi constant on the highway, 110kmh, 3100rpms...
(BTW, what are you doing on the 12th of November? We're doing a run...)

Yup I remember my first 12PSI before I bombed, now at full boost I'm at 40PSI.
Oh yeah that's on my Cummins Turbo Diesel. Had to do it.
Boost is rad.

Phil is this ok ? Sounds like you may kill the turbo or worse ? I don't know Pete. On Hwy 2 I'm often boosting at 5-8psi for miles at a time. I'm waiting on some of my boys from the UK on their forum to give me their highway readings, to see if mine is normal or not. Certainly makes me realize the importance of good clean oil, eh? And I'll be sticking with synth, as I've been using, as we were discussing on the club board. P

At what RPM dos the turbo kick in then? I try to keep mine at 3k or below, which means I do the speed limit. Stock tires and 3k rpm = 110 k/hr in OD (automatic). I'd hate to think the poor Turbo was running that whole time. I put lots of highway miles on the truck.

(BTW, what are you doing on the 12th of November? We're doing a run...) I have no idea what im doing...I can try to get that day off work but I can't guarantee anything. I am working really stupid hours lately and I cant even get time to sleep. I worked 94 hours/week 2 weeks in a row and 76hours the week after. its pretty harsh. most of it is driving all over this damn province.

'Monster, I'll PM you with the deets, 'kay?
RE: Boost pressures, just heard back from two UK mates who confirmed that their Paj's do the exact same thing on the highway. This must be the way it was designed?
BTW, can somone clue me in on how a "normal" turbo spools up and down through the course of driving, so I can compare? I've never owned a gas or diesel turbo before, so this is all new to me...

Phil, this turbo seems too small for the engine judging by how fast it spools up. just in neutral I could get 10lbs. of boost by revving it up, thats crazy. on my little dodge colt turbo, it doesnt reach full boost (19psi) until 5100RPM and in neutral theres no way I can get any boost just by revving it up, there is not even clost to enough load on the engine. I want to find out what bigger turbo is an upgrade for our engine, ie. would a starion turbo fit and upgrade??? I dont know
