I've searched and not finding much on this topic. Does anyone know if a sturdy Brush guard/ Bull Bar is offered anymore for the Gen I Montero? I am looking at buying a 91 four door with low miles but sturdy protection up front is kind of a necessity where I live (deer). I currently have an ARB on the trooper and I LOVE IT. Doesn't look like ARB makes one for the older Monteros though. Thanks Guys! : <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Any other tips on checking out a used Montero would be appreciated as well. I have never owned one but I've always thought they were cool trucks. This is a 91 LS 4 door v6 only 93K miles. Runs great and doesn't seem to be smoking at all. Thanks again

Who needs ARB when you can get a Don bumper for less and better built http://www.interchg.ubc.ca/dhuysman/raider1b.html

So, scanning some pics on the net I found a white Gen I with an ARB in the background (I think I like the looks of ARB better) No offense though, Don's stuff looks sweet! Anyone tell me what the story is on fitment? Is this just modified to fit maybe? or did ARB at one time have a part # for these older montys? Also, I see there is a snorkel available. Just trying to figure out what the possibilities are for this truck. I'll be using it as a 3rd vehicle for local trips to the mountains, minor wheeling and project/ fun. I am particularly looking for ARB/winch setup up front, snorkel, possible 1 or 2" lift and a great roof rack (wilderness maybe?) The raider in the back ground Belongs to DougB it is a nice Raider with all the stuff you mention you want such as the bar ,roof rack and snorkel. His raider is more of a silver color rather then white. You will have a very hard time getting one of those bumpers in the US now. Unless you find one used. If you do plan on offroading it you may want to consider Dons for the money savings to put towards sliders aswell. This is because in my opinion while offroading sliders are more important then a bumper of course that does not help with dear. Here is a different shot of a Dons bumper on my truck along with sliders. No I dont personaly know the guy except from this forum and I dont get anything for helping in a sale. ![[Linked Image]](http://pics.montypics.com/tag/2006-10-21/1161468298_dscf0005.jpg)

Thanks stoney man and Tag, I definatly agree on the sliders have to look into that. DougB I really dig your Raider! Well, if you have any idea how I can get my hands on an ARB for Gen I let me know. Looks like Don's is a good option too. thanks again

Here's a shot of a couple more. Don's rig is in front and mine is in back. The center rig is HighMtnDesert's (HMD for short) and his bumper is his own concoction. And here's another shot of mine. I also have to give Don props for his work. He makes some great stuff. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.fivethirty.com/images/snork-a.jpg)
