Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'm pretty certain that I know the answer but am wondering if there is any way to be sure.
The symptoms....driving down the road, engine just flat out stops running, no noise, no drama, it just quits. Cranks over just fine but doesn't start. Squirt a little starting fluid into the intake and it actually lights off, till the vapor from that is gone.

Tested the ECU at the test port and got a quick swing from the needle all the way with no return. According to all I have read that tells me a dead ECU. Pulled it out and cracked the case to see a small bit of leakage at the base of one of the capacitors.

So my questions....is this a dead ECU for sure? Is there a shop somewhere semi local to me (Seattle area) that can test it to comfirm?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, it's dead. If you're handy with a pencil iron you can replace the capacitors yourself - they should be available at Radio Shack. If not, someone can suggest a repair shop....

here's a repair article:

here's a repair place, vut I don't have any experience with them:

Thanks Frank!

One EBay purchase later and all is good again. I'll be trying the repair on my old one just to have around for a spare.
