Lets see,....hmmm One milllion dollars...

$40 per hour + bennies? Where do I sign up.
Guess what..soon even those gravy union jobs will go to the "new" union of mexicans at a rate of pay that will put all US citizen union workers on the street, you know looking for and being happy with $15 an hour jobs.
The new (as soon as our chicken --it government gives amnesty) mexican unions will build those cars here for $18 per hour. For a few years...then they will be wanting the $40 per hour deals.

Our government is begging us to revolt, who's with me?

Noticed the sagging rear springs we pulled out of the XJ had "Made in Mexico" painted on them. If my truck was assembled in Mexico I'd have to say they did a good job, everything was torqued to spec and marked with yellow paint. Not a single stripped nut or screw, no rattes, all tight. Fit and finish is great.

We've been using Mexicos cheap labor on US soil for hundereds of years, why care when we do exactly the same thing on thier turf?

I work for a US manufacturing company, we have 500+ factory workers in Seattle alone. We also outsource when it's needed. We have a factory in Dublin that has a much lower overhead than ours. Smaller granted but lower cost of living, carpooling and lower insurance and wages all contribute.

Am I worried we'll all lose our jobs and send the whole operation overseas? No.
Is it possible? Sure.
Would the customer know or even care? Probobly not.

I guess my point is, I'd buy all US made goods if I could but it's simply impossible with the way I live.

The only thing even close to me US made is my Chippewa boots and the hardwood floor under them.

I'm a GM dealer tech. Nearly all of the broken crap trucks I see have a 1 in the country of manufacture, not a 2 (Canada) or a 3(Mexico).

I am making a very large effort to get out of the automobile industry completely. I believe it's a sinking ship, the bow is already broken.

As far as wages, they are high because the products we want and even need are so expensive. Those products are so expensive because wages are so high. It's a Catch-22.

My long term goals are to get my business going well enough to quit my job, spend a lot more time on my bicycle and a lot less in my truck, live off the grid and spend lots of time with my family and my church.

I don't buy Chevy's.

i hear you on the sinking ship thing, i read in the paper today that ford is in the hole. 5.8 BILLION in the hole to be exact. they claim it to be from restructuring but i know another little dark secret of theirs.
Years ago ford bought some land in NJ not far from where i live to dump their waste. well someone found out it was toxic and made them clean it up and shut down the dump site.a few years ago they was testing soil and found it to still have contaminates in it and made ford clean it up again. finally early this month or late last month the found more waste at the site forcing ford yet again to come in there and clean. this time they will be supervised, and the case wont be closed until they are sure ford has cleaned everything up.it is very scary for the residents due to it is close to a resivoir that supplies that town with water(not the town im in we get ours from a different one)
i am positive that that 5.8 billion is NOT just from restructuring.I can't help but hope that ford goes under ,i hate that company as much as i hate bridgestone/firestone,which is alot.

52, I saw your sig and was wondering, is NAK video services your buisiness? Could I ask where you're located? I could have sworn I've seen that name on a bumper sticker or something.

Or I could just be imagining things

You're probably imagining things. We just got started and we're located in Ceres, California. But we're not afraid to do business outside the state.
