That gray one is for engines with the California Emissions package. On those vehicles the ECM is different too. But yeah, just leave it hang.

Dozier... You had the distributor removed, correct ? So, it's possible that you didn't get it inserted correctly, search back about a year or so for the thread that has pics that show the marks for lining up the dist... There's a mark on the inside of the head, under the valve cover.... but, if you don't wanna take the cover off, you will need to find TDC and make sure the dist is pointing to the correct plug. There's info about this too...
