I have this problem with my amigo it start a few days ago when i decided to sale it,ran fine than after a test drive it just started dieing on idle and under gas,changed filter and did the engine check everything looks okay,can i safely say that the alt. is bad.and about how much does a alt. cost,somebody help me get it to stay running wife says its really got to go,its just been a pain in the butt dealing with this.thanks if somebody can help

I don't think so. Does it stay running, but just badly ?

Alt problems usually show up as it will start, and run for a few seconds, then die. This is because the power to the fuel pump gets killed if the alt isn't working properly.

on idle after starting for few seconds it stays running than dies,when on the gas itll stay running for a few minutes and then die,almost like something is clogged,but dont now enough about isuzu and dont want to spend a lot since im selling it.

check all of your vacuum hoses... my trooper would start for a few seconds then die before I had them all connected properly. also check your fuel filter that could be part of the problem

and yes, jeff, I got the liitle trooper all ready to go...looks rough but starts right up and drives just as good as it did when it had the old engine....now just gotta get a new muffler to keep it quiet but other than that its ready to roll...maybe I can finally squeeze in a camping trip up to tellico before the end of november! Thanks for all the help everyone!

checked all the hoses and replaced the filter still does the same thing,i did do a k/n fitler on it could it be my mass air flow sensor,and is there a way to check to see if its good or bad.

Im not sure how u would check your air flow sensor, but u may be able to find one cheap at the auto parts store. u said it was running not long ago? was that before or after u put the k&n air filter in? check your distributor cap, wires and plugs. I had a coil go bad on me once and it was the result of an engine that would start and then die within a few seconds check that also
