not to sound stupid or anything, but doesnt the gen 1 have a center diff? How do you take a center diff to a driver drop? I have plenty more questions for everybody since ive had mine about a year or so and am just getting into modding it. just wondering.

Monteros have the front differential mounted to the drivers side.

When you hear people talk about gen2 center diff, the tcase acts like a diff so you can use 4wd on pavement, still driver drop though. Not center as in in the middle.

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

so the dana 44 out of a jeep will work for an 89 raider with the 3.0? coil or leaf spring suspension? would a dana 300 transfer case be a good choice or would there be too much modding to do to the frame? like i said many many questions

You need to do some searching, and reading man.

You might be getting way way way too deep into this w/out learning enough up front.

FIrst off what are you going to hook that D300 up to? its a great case.... depending on what its being bolted to.

The wagoneer is leaf sprung if its in a stock configuration. You can build leafs or coils, and your 3.0 has nothing to do with anything. Not be rude, but you seem lost.

Just want to chime in here to keep this thread alive. I've been considering a wagoneer axle swap, but I want to use the d44 rear also, in order to get 5.38 gearing. only thing is, no more abs, and the way i estimated it ran about $2700, might be a little too much. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />
