I wonder how the bumped up the specs to 260/270 ft.lbs on the N/A motor. Advance the timing and run jet fuel???

What about the headers, why are they set up in that configuration?

what a deal, only $37,877.40 U.S. dollars for the N/A motor kit.

As for the exhaust, it's being used in a Supermarine Spitfire replica, so they want to replicate the look of the original v12's exhaust. Purely aesthetical, I'd wager.

From what I can gather from John at Alpine, he says most of the Isuzu supercharger kits that he's sold in the past year or so have been going onto airplane engines. Not Isuzu trucks.

Does anybody else think its sketchy to use an automotive engine in an airplane?

How does that exhaust not burn up the valves?

Not really. If you recall, the later P51 Mustangs used a Rolls Royce engine in place of the Allison (?) engine. And IIRC, that's the same engine that was used in the Rolls Royce cars.

Actually car engines are far more advanced than you average airplane for example the turbo'd engine in my uncles airplane doesn't even have forged pistons.

Apparently they dont think the exhaust temps are a problem for the valves. This was posted by OBT on the planet, testing it in the truck..

There was some company using honda cx/gl 500 motorcycle engines for light weight aircraft. Just hope they used an upgraded stator for the alternator in them. The cx/gl had a tendancy to burn them up if it got too hot.

The RR Merlin Engine was in no way shape or form the same engine as was used in any automobile RR built.
