You guys just can't comprehend how many individual stories there are about this. Everyone in a FEMA trailer is a different case.
Half of my employees had their houses, and all contents destroyed. No one quite understand what it's like to come home to nothing. The people that left at least had their cars. NOTHING is a word that I can't convey properly. I don't think the english language has a word that means "Not owning anything". The people who stayed, and got flooded out... they lost everything.
This was not a flood of nice blue aquarium water. It was filled with funk, filth, muck, and trash. Brown nasty gross water that left silt on everythign is touched. Imagine 12 feet of this saltwater in your home right now. Rising up... a foot or so every 5 mins. Then you survive that in the attic if you were lucky, or on the roof, or being blown across the neighborhood.... 100000001 stories about this as well.
After the water settles... you might have been able to wash your valuables off if you could find or get to them. .... Guns, Jewlry, car.... but theres not much you can do with no water, no tools, house colapsed....
My point is that due to the circumstances there was nothing you could do for your material posessions other then let them be ruined, and try to get some shelter, or food for your family. There was no going to work the next day, there was no going to walmart to buy something. these people had nothing for weeks. and when I say "these people" Im talking from the texas/louisiana border to Mobile Alabama.
Most of my employees took SBA loans, and rebuilt their houses.... One of them is caught up in limbo right now.... Heres an example of someone who is still in a FEMA trailer.
Originally lived in a Trailer....hurricane came... trailer is not there when he gets back to his property... hurricane obliterated it..... it's found wayy off in the woods.... Everything he owned except his pickup, dog, and a few guns are gone. Lives with inlaws for a few months... FINALLY gets a FEMA trailer... yay....
Gets approved for an SBA loan months after he first appplied... closing costs out the wazoo.... SBA says ok heres your first installment.... Uhh OK... what do I do with 15k? SBA says put a down payment on a new trailer... OK... thats done... no what...
long story short, this has been going on for months... He owns, and pays monthly on a trailer that the dealer wont deliver because the laws have changed since his first building permit was signed off on.... they say he has to go higher....(foundations) the contractors are backed up for a year on this sort of thing, it's going to cost 15k more than he has.....

Yep. That's our government looking out for us.
I'm so thankful nothing like that has happened here, at least not near me.

I'm so thankful nothing like that has happened here, at least not near me. Your turn is comming. Cept your whole state is going to break off. BUT!! you can rest asured.... when it does....the folks here at the wire will help you out if needed. We were helped alot from here. Even had offeres to go out of state, and stay with people Ive barely even met. Even though I did not take you up.... (you know who you are) It means SO MUCH to have people offer their homes to you. Thanks for that!! I guess what I am getting at is that when california breaks off, and sinks, you can come to southern MS, and I will get you all set up with my local GM dealer, and a place to live till you're back on the feets.

When it breaks off, it'll happen to the West of my location. The only problem is my elevation. I'm at 26' above sea level. Makes for nice beach property, but the fault is a number of miles away, so even if it were to happen I wouldn't really end up any better off.
I appreciate your hospitality, but you have no idea what you're offering. I come with a wife and 3 young boys. And we're a homeschool family. I shudder to think what would happen to your way of life as a result of the mere existance of my children within a 25 mile radius of your home
Hopefully, if it ever does happen, my business will be established enough that going back to work for Satan ( GM ) won't be needed.

WELLLL... at 26 foot elevation get ready for seawater in your living room. And If I got ahold of your boys, therd be lots of burned fingers, and cuts scrapes bruises. Those welders make hot spots on go cart frames when you are building them. Id set those buggers loose in the shop with some basic safety instructions.... Youd have a SAS montero in a few years!!! ahaha Your kids can;t be THAT bad. AND if they were I'd just threaten that another earthquake would come if they did not straighten up.

I also got a few PMs saying I had a place to stay if needed from people I only know their name and what montero they had. That was awesome of those people to do that. Thank you. It took some people almost a year to get FEMA trailers in LA. First you needed clean running water, electricity, and sewer cleanout on your property. If you could not put it on your own property you could put it somewhere else. YOu just needed the land owner to sign off on it. Then some places you needed permits for the trailers and no more than 1 per lot. When you got your temp pole for electricity, you were in line behind thousands waiting for a meter to be put in and be hooked up. A lot of BS in Louisiana. You really have to see it to believe what happened. Before I went back the first time. I saw hundreds of pics on the internet. Being there is 10times worse than you could ever imagine.
I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

Those pics are unbelievable in that these are the things we have ignorantly allowed the government to get involved in but believable because the government is involved .
These pics make good arguements for a return to self-reliance.
Most people are probably doing as well as they are down there despite the government.

My business partner just went to Biloxi[sic?] for a week to work for Samaritan's Purse rebuilding houses. He said the devastation is still completely awe inspiring.
He also told me that all those FEMA trailers will be gone in 4 or 5 months and everybody in them will be out of luck and on the street. I just don't understand how our government can waste so much money and not get things done in our own country.
