I used a cut off wheel on a small hobby type dremel tool (about the size of a quarter when it was new) and cut the race about 90% of the way through. Then harassed it with a chisel to finish breaking it and finally fish it out. It worked really well for me and took no time at all with no collateral damage either.

This is what I did about a year ago with my pilot bearing, just be very careful not to cut through the bearing chase and into the crank shaft. I cut one slot into the outter chase and then another about 1/2 inch away. Then tapped it out with a screw driver and hammer. Worked like a charm.
