Good evening, got the Monty registered and started driving her again. Got a problem with knock sound and misfire. This is after sitting for over a year with just an occasional start for a few minutes.
Replaced cap and rotor but still the same. Anyone experienced a no spark in one cylinder only?
Thanks in advance for any help. Used the search function and tryin to read up, just posted as someone might have gone thru this problem already.

Check the plug and wire, are you sure it is no spark? Or is that cyl not fireing?

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

check plugs and they look ok, same with the plug wires. Pulled the plug wire from the distributor cap and there is no spark on the no. 6 post, I saw sparks on the other posts when I pulled the boots.

Remove the distributor cap and see if the #6 terminal is damaged. Check continuity from the #6 outer terminal of the cap to the inner terminal..... check continuity of the plug wire.... check the plug..... or treat the truck to a new rotor, cap, wires and plugs.

You should find your problem if you follow Franks suggestions. If all that Frank suggested is good, look down at the optical plate in the distributor and make sure that all of the slots in the plate are open and free of debris or oil.

Also the post inside of the cap do not line up exactly with the post on the outside of the cap. Follow the raised plastic part, you will see what I am talking about. Try swapping a plug wire and do the spark test.

Replaced with new cap n rotor yesterday, same problem. Also have a few of the parts inside the distributor. Replaced with a few already and same problem, well one time the dead cylinder went from #6 to #2, weird.
Will do a compression test later when it gets a bit warmer here. Thanks for the advise everyone and if you guys have any more suggestions, much thanks in advance.
Will an ecu cause this problem or is it just the trigger inside the distributor the main controller for spark?

Man, got her fixed. It was the round washer with notches inside the distributor. Forgot that I got some from caravans, they use a different type. Found an extra one for a MOntero and all is good in teh world. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />
Thanks for everyones help. Btw went ahead and checked compression, 150psi +/- 10 all araound.
Thinking of getting heads from clearwater adn would like to ask if those readings indicate my bottom end is still good. Thanks again. Off to ride d Malljero.
