I've been having somewhat of a lumpy performance for a few months. Feels like something is clogged and then all of a sudden it's just like it's supposed to be. Comes and goes with no apparent ties to engine heat or fuel status. I'm strongly suspecting the EGR valve on this one so my question is.

Where is the EGR located and can it be shot with a rifle? It must DIE

P.s.
There is also a very fine metal filter in the fuelpump housing where the fuel enters the pump. I've heard story's of huge increase in MPG's and power after cleaning with carb cleaner.
