Any updates with anyone using a blanking plate ?

I'd opt for cleaning mine but am curious to see if here in canuck-land there's any of you running with the EGR ?

Body Damage is Cool
I was thinking about this yesterday...my pajero smokes like a son of a B****. and I read on POCUK that having a clogged up EGR valve hurts with initial turbo spool up and I have pretty bad lag. I think I am going to pull the whole assembly right off anyway but I just wanted some more feedback on it.

Phil, when you cleaned yours out did it run differently??? like I mean was it definetly benficial to the engine by only cleaning it?

Nope, but mine wasn't that dirty - it only had about 50k clicks on it or so when I cleaned it...

I'm thinking that our elevation is the culprit Nigel. When I went to BC and was down in the 3-500m range, I saw no smoke, better power, etc. But you're living at 900ish meters, and I'm at 1100m. I think our rigs are adjusted for close to sea-level and we're feeling the effects.

Removing the EGR will put your EGTs higher than stock, assuming it was working correctly when you pulled it - IMHO a working EGR system is best, followed by a removed system, and obviously a non-working system is of no benefit, and is probably worse than none.

yea, I knew it would change EGT temps by pulling it off....Maybe I will pull it off and soak it with some carb cleaner. its probably just gummed right up...I have never had it off.

What ever became of this?
Here is my problem, I just intalled a brand new out of the crate 4D56 engine. With the EGR hooked up, it is very hard to start and once it does it smokes like crazy and cuts out really badly. Has very little power. If I disconnect the vacume hose from the top of the EGR, it starts and runs great with no smoke what so ever. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />
