Getting the Wheeling Fever
I am looking into making homemade front and rear bumpers for my 86 Trooper. If anybody has pictures of ones they have done for any year trooper please post them or send them to me so I can get an idea where to start.
thanks

It's Cavalry, not Calvary. Cavalry as in cavalier as in horses (Spanish word caballo and French chevalier come from the same root). Calvary is where Christ was crucified IIRC.

heh...thanks for fixing that... a bit of a pet peeve i suppose.

I was thinking of taking 2x5 square steel tube and cutting it to length (for the rear). Something like this:

Indy 4x rear bumper

But not as nice. Would have to fab brackets. I'm also planning to make spacers to bolt through to the factory holes in the rear crossmember.

Simple rear bumper plumbed for onboard air. Nevermind the tires.

Semi-ugly front winch bumper, grill guard lifts out of 2 reciever hitches. Pre quarter panel bob.

Yup .... I'd do it somewhat different a second time.

Let try to keep this on-topic and save the banter for PM's. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Not a Trooper; but its a pretty generic design. I made the main body out of 2x4x3/16" tube, connecting pieces to the rear crossmember are 2x2x1/4" tube to 1/4" plate, and mounts to rear of frame are 3x3 angle iron.

Yeah those are the pictures I am hoping to get. The one we are drawing up right now looks like like those. A flat piece of square steel with angles at the end. WE will be putting a 2" reciever below it and added shackles to the back. I may also make some mounts for my Hi-Lift Back there but that hasn't been decided yet.
Please keep the pics coming. Especially the close ups of the connections to the frames.
thanks
