Longer links I would assume, but the design looks pretty stright forward. The reason I asked is I toyed with the idea of just doing a transplant w/ a Isuzu D44. That way it would be setup for the links already and I just have to make my mount onto my frame and call it good.

Maybe the best way would be to use the Rodeo like setup to play with, using coils, then staying leafs in the front til I can play with the links a bit then convert.

I remember Bansil plugging the stock Rodeo rear link geometry into a 4-link calculator, and coming up with an obscene amount of anti-squat. 300% IIRC . Obviously, you can vary the link mounts at the frame to adjust this, but you can only do so much without changing the axle mounts.

Also realize that going with a 2nd gen Rodeo D44 will present some complications when it comes to re-gearing.

I'm not trying to discourage you from this idea, but just some things to consider.

Good luck,

This is a good example of the point I was trying to get across (and why starting with the stock setup doesn't buy you much IMHO)... changing one component in a link setup almost always impacts many others... a degree of complexity really not dealt with with a leaf sprung setup. this is why I caution against it and recommend you do your homework before jumping in.

This isn't an Izuzu but the principal is the same. I SAS my 82 Mitsubishi pickup using a full width high pinion Dana 44 from a Ford F-150. To stay away from having to re-design the steering I simply swapped all the suspension from the F-150 onto my truck. I figured Ford spent lots of $$$$ to engineer the front end already why re-invent the wheel. I used the original radius arms and spring buckets. I took lots of measurements from the F-150 and matched them on my truck. The only thing I did different was I wristed the passenger side radius arm for my articulation. The truck tracks straight, stops straight and articulates really well. And by using stock Ford stuff parts are easy to come by and cheaper.

Isn't the 2nd gen d44 fine if you swap carriers?

There is a lot of tech on this subject over on Pirate. Do a search on 4-link analyzer.

It's not so much the carrier that's odd, but the pinion. You can use a standard R&P, but it takes some custom work to sleve the pinion. Not saying it can't be done, but I'd go with a bigger axle for SAS before I'd spend the money to regear a 2nd gen, or any D44 for that matter.

I don't remember the exact numbers but it was closer to 2000% anti squat with 6" of lift on stock mounting points.

The links actually converge touch about 4 feet behind the Rodeo.

Also the way the stock panhard bar attaches to the axle will result in very low roll axis if you attempt to keep the bar parrallel to the ground. The mount won't be easy to move with everything in the way.
If you go links in the rear, read alot on pirate and start with a bar axle tube......just my .02
