I want a diesel so bad. Finally someone is making these adapters. Now if I just wouldn't have rebuilt my 22RE a couple years ago... The Germans know their diesels - it's no Cummins, but I think the 1.9 is a pretty good engine. If it can be tuned right it may not lack much at all in power either.

What are the specs on the 1.9? Might still cost the same as swaping in a toyota diesel from overseas.

I list some of the factory specs on my web page:

Seems that the 1.9 engines are very detuned from the factory.

I also drive a 2003 Golf TDI with the 1.9 engine. Changed the turbo, injectors and Dieselpump. All that with a software upgrade gets you ~ 180 HP (motor) and I limited the torque to 280ft.lbs. It's my daily driver so I don't want to stress the components too much but I have friends that are around 230 HP motor.
Best is, no smog check, exempt <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

How much does it cost to get 180/280 out of that engine? I dont' think I would like it with the stock HP ratings but your setup sounds like fun. Did it change your milage a lot?

Can opening the injectors up raise the performance quite a bit, Roger?

On the TDIs, folks put in the higher flow European injectors and chip the ECU for starters.

On the mechanical pumps on the 1.9D and TD, just cranking up the fueling at the pump works wonders. On the TD, intercooling and LPG fumigation work quite well.

This is awesome. So does it mean it opens up options for swaping in a 1.9 tdi diesel in a 91' 4cyl pickup to run on a 2 tank system of diesel/svo or wvo?

To get best efficiency/mpg, what's best? 2lte-II or 1.9 tdi or some others i would know?
