So far, we can import almost anything that is at least 15 years old by production date and passes a safety inspection. There are a bunch of places here bringing in TLCs, Hilux trucks and Surfs, Skylines, etc. I've been looking at 4-door Hilux trucks with 3 litre diesels and solid front axles for a while. They're right-hand drive but legal here. Best of all, most of them are low mileage and spotless and cost under $20k.

I don't care if I can get the canada toy registered. I just need to swap a couple things. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
America's first fourwheel drive was built in Mankato, MN by Ernest Rosenburger in 1908 who founded Four-Traction Auto Co. on Hickory Street. The company though successful closed in 1913.

You'd be better off just buying a front clip from overseas then a whole truck. The JDM trucks go for almost double or more what their domesticly available siblings sell for. What happened to the actual VW swap portion of this thread?

Is this the actual 1.9L TD that's required for the swap with ACME? I test drove this today on a 96 jetta gl 4dr for $1600cad. Diesel is pretty nice! ![[Linked Image]](http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l37/allochris/CIMG7423.jpg)

Hi my name is Arlyn James I live north of san francisco ca I have bin wondering how well the vw diesels would work in a 4x4 toyota. I just reciently became aware of the 150 hp ARL 1.9 tdi from germany sounds way better than the 2lt. Can you still get these motors? And can you get a complete swap with computer harness ect. I here some newer tdi"s need origional key to run. I am just doing some reasearch right now but would really like to do one of these swaps.
