So i live in MA, and cape cod has a good ORV beach, Nauset beach. i was out there havin a blast. handleing the whole beach in 2wd. then on my way off the beach and the engine stalls. i try to start it and i get nothing. i check all the fuses and the EFI fuse and AMP1 (bigger square) fuse are blown. i try to fix them with wire but it dosent work. Finally a friend comes with a stock Cherokee and tows me off the beach. My truck is at the parking lot for the night but im wondering if anyone has any idea what could be wrong. i am going there tomorrow to try to figure it out.

IT may have been caused by the O2 Sensor wire melting to the exhaust. i'm going to check that in the morning

3.0 V6 auto. the engine is rebuilt its allways ran good. only broke down once for a starter.

I had a similar problem with the wire harness melting on the headers. If you see melted wires for the O2 sensor chances are that is it.

I would recommend a solder repair as a permanent fix instead of crimped connectors.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! the same damn thing happend to me 3 years ago i was stuck on th beach for 8 hours no cell phone 10 miles out in the middle of nowhere..thank god I had my fishing rods with me!! $500 later for a 4wd recovery it was the o2 sensor wire on the exhaust..

yupp... damn o2 sensor wire.. just went down there.. moved the wire. and started her right up.. i was alone so i had to leave her. but damn what a *****.

yea this was a big upset. i was crusin like 40mph down the untouched beach, 2wd, then all of a sudden engine shuts off. i am surprised i've never read anything in this matter before.

Good to know you fixed it, but just thought I'd mention that, if your cops in MA are like mine in NC, they get mighty upset when someone does 40 on the beach, regardless of whether people are there or not.

I guess the thinking is that someone *could* be there, laying in the sand, nice and low where you can't see them.
