Does anybody know where the oxygen sensor connection is on a 1990 3.0 Montero,finding the sensor itself was easy but finding to where it plugs in at is driving me crazy.

I found this, I am not certain and any of the guys withthe 3.0 can say if it is right but this is as per the repair manual:

The manual shows it at the firewall towards the drivers side.
Two wire connector. one white and one black wires.


Over the hill but still climbing.
88 Montero 2.6L auto, manual hubs, cooling fan conversion gps,recurved distributor,LSD Diff.

I can not make out the picture very well but thanks anyway and on the sensor itself ther are 4 wires going into the connector so I am still searching.

The wire goes over the tranny and plugs in on the driver side. One of the 2 plugs right by the t-case roll stop mount. Just above frame height.

That's where mine is too.

Sparky must have a Kalifornia model like mine. HO2S instead of O2. I haven't seen any Federal monteros, so I don't know for sure.

AFAIK, all of the '89s route the o2 sensor over the transmission to the driver side frame rail mount near the t-case.... a harness runs from the frame rail connection forward, then up and into the engine bay where it joins the run into the main harness. I suppose it's done that way to keep the harness away from high heat.

I meant the part about 4 wires instead of 2. Does yours have a heated O2 sensor?
