WOW, your wife ROCKS!!!
That's a good deal! Local Warn dealer wants $120.00 plus shipping and I don't want to even talk to the KIA dealer. (Just checked and the STEALER wants $252.10 and will have to order them from San Jose.
I went hunting last month and when I locked in my manual Warn hubs the outer spring on the passenger side didn't have enough grunt to keep the gear ring locked.
FYI - Over time the manual hubs loose their lubrication and if you don't cycle them they freeze/lock-up. Yearly P/M is required.
My passenger hub was simi frozen and when I put a lot of load on them trying to climb out of a rut the outer spring broke or got sprung.
Now when I lock my hubs the left side slips and sounds like the teeth are grinding on the axle shaft and the front drive shaft just spins. I pulled the hub off the axel and everything looks OK, but I still need to get to the outer spring to replace it.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Warn manual hubs, but wish they would sale a rebuild kit or just some of the parts so I could fix mine.
However, at $96.19 I think it might be worth having a spare set in the vehicle at all times just in case.
We have 6-8 months of snow here too and I switched to the manual locking hubs after the auto hubs failed the first time. They were covered under warrantee and know when I lock them in they'll work. The double diaphragm design of the auto locking hubs freezes up and gets dirty to easily.
