1997 T100 extracab, 3.4L, 5-speed, 169K, 4x4. Love the truck, never buy anything but toyota, I tried it once, most miserable six months of my life.

I havent tried, but it looks like an interesting idea. My only worry is that if someone was to do that there is nothing much holding the coil in place-it could fly out under the right conditions!

The snubber and upper cup should do the trick if the spring floats in its mount. If the lower and upper mount plates have a detent in them for the end of the coil, like stock units, they should not turn or float. One idea for those wishing to keep a soft ride unless you load up with weight is to use a VariCoil spring. The first 2.5 to 3 winds are wound in an increasingly wider and closer together helix and then the rest of the coil is a standard wound coil. The light loads are taken up with the variable part and the heavy loads really get push back from the rest of the coil. Used them many times on my old chevys. They only make rear ones as far as I know.

Geez, what happened to just replacing the old leaf springs that dont hold the truck up anymore?
96 T100 4x4 - 35's, 4" SL, 2" BL, 4.88s, ARBs, custom bumper & E9000 winch, etc. 99 F-350 4x4 superduty supercab turbodiesel longbed

We have a local spring shop that will make whatever you want and it will cost you about what you would pay from a dealer for a stock set. ( I was trying to be nice too...)
