I had a guy tell me yesterday that you can't swap the 4.88 3rds into the 4 cylinder housings because the axle shaft diameters are different? I started to argue with him that a bunch of people have done it... he says that he tried and it won't work... because the 4.88 3rds came out of a v6 toyota, the axle shaft diameter is bigger, to accomodate the engine... So my questions to the gurus on this board (because I have faith in all of you) - Are the 3rds a straight swap? will my 4 cylinder axle shafts (4.10 factory gearing) work with the v6, 4.88 3rds? Nothing else needs swapping? Just the 3rds? By the way - these 3rds seem hard to find...
