so i started my rebuild the other day and so far everything is not going to plan. when i was unhooking most of my electrical connectors they broke due to the fact they are plastic and about as brittle as a eggshell.so i dont know what to do to for when i go to assemble everything again. i am thinking maybe some electrical tape. second i finally go my engine out of the truck with a little persuasion from a hammer and a 2x4 and when i pulled the oil pan there was about a hand full of little black plastic chunks sitting int he bottom of my oil pan. I have no idea what it is but if any of u out there do please let me know. thanx for your time and input

Plastic is the timing chain guides, or what is left of them. On the connectors, were you releasing the metal spring clips prior to pulling them?

the previous owner probaly is to blame X2 Those pieces float around and get stuck at the oil sump, blocking oil delivery throughout the engine. Probably why you are doing a re-build. A touch of gasket sealer on you connections, away from the copper electrical should keep them connected.
