I want to lift my 97 cherokee 3 or 4.5 inches what is the best kit that still keeps a good ride on highway and city streets. I was looking at the rough country, pro comp, rubicon, and super lift. I would like to get out of this with out a lot of $. Does any one have any imput for me. I like the price on the rough country and shipping time, but i have heard they are called rough for a reason is this still true. I have not had a 4x4 yet this is a first for me and I love my JEEP, so I want to lift it cause the factory suspinsion is trashed, the front and rear springs, upper and lower arms and even the shocks, so why not add more fun to my ride since I have to fix it anyway.

I have a 4" ProComp lift on my CJ7. It rides quite a bit rougher than OEM springs or the 2" lift I had on it earlier. In fact, it's a PITA to drive it very long on the street.

from what i've heard and read - rubicon express is the way to go...unless of course the price makes you pass out

I put this same lift in my 98 Cherokee and love it. Install took us about 4 hours for both front and rear springs, shocks and bushing all the way around. Simple tools, 2 guys in the driveway.
Pothole littered roads are smooth at 40 MPH, washboard is'nt scary and I have yet to hit the bumpstops.
Can't think of any downside, ride is very smooth on pavement, not stiff at all. 1,000 miles later I'm still at 3" on all 4 corners.

I've heard that OME and RE are the best way to go. They are a little more pricey, but you get what you pay for. I know that the RE kits are very complete kits, except for the shocks I believe.
(OME - old man emu)
(RE - rubicon express)

I have heard nothing but good things about Rough Country lifts for the XJ's from my friends. I have a Rough Country lift on my TJ and love it. You can't lay any other kit next to Rough Country's and be able to tell me where the difference in price is coming from. Actually all of the kit compared have the same exact steel density from the furnace and the same taper, steel thickness, and in some cases the design that Rough Country has is easier to wheel. Just my opinion!

I've got a Rubicon Express lift kit and love it. Rides smooth on the highway and flex's well off the pavement. RE has my vote and IMHO is worth every penny of the extra $$$.

I've installed a dozen brands of lifts, RE with no question make the best, easiest to install, longest lasting and best trail performing kits period.
RE has it figured out.
