Getting the Wheeling Fever
ford recommends priming the oil pump before starting the new (or remaned) motor. if you dont do this the warranty on the crate/ford reman is void.ford has issued TSB's on this issue. packing the pump will let it prime quickly, without much hassle.

Packed the pump, the oil made it up a lttle further up the line but very slowly. The pan is next, then the timing chain cover. I have posts all aver this board regarding this issue.

I've only rebuilt 3, never heard about it, and guess I've been lucky each time with no problems (not noticed anyway).

I used regular cam-lube upon my reinstall .... Always keep a small can around for small jobs like this.

Packing the pump didn't work. I may have left the gasket off the pickup tube. I will be checking that out today.

I don't recall if the timing cover waz grooved.

here's a question (and I may dedicate a thread to this): How many oil journal plugs are there on a 22re block? Where are they? I am thinking that if any are left out it would have to be behind the timing chain cove or else I would have oil leaking since I do have pressure just very low.

Tonight I will be pulling the pan and checking the pickup and removing the timing chain cover to check the journals that may exist there. If that doesn't work what could be my next step?
