It should have been trapped in the bore by a ridge on the cam bore and a matching dent around the periphery of the cap/cup. I think you can replace it without completely removing the rocker shaft/cam sprocket. I'd loosen all the caps, more toward the rear. If you need a cup I think I've got a couple.
