Need a Spot
So, I just bought a "mildly" wheeled 86 yota 4x (22r), what I want to know from all you gear heads out there, what kind of horse power can i expect to punch out of this carbie 22r?? Also pass along any recomendations for mods and builds. I plan on keeping the 4 cyl. for now so swapping is out of the question, i like the toyota drive train, oh yea and i am on a pretty fixed budget...for now...
Thanks for the help!

160-180 hp out of an otherwise stock 20r/22r hybrid? I'd love to see that dyno. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Here's a dyno run of a mildly modified 22RE - mild cam, engnbldr .5mm over stainless valves, header:

A stock 93: http://www.yotatech.com/showthread.php?t=59865
81hp
104 ft/lbs

That's about 7 RWHP and 10 RW torque over stock...

The only way to get hp out of a 22R is to do some porting and significant head work. You'll get power, but at an RPM level where it's not particularly useful on the street.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
You can stroke it like mine but it's gonna cost some dollars. If you want the 22R motor to make awesome HP/Torque you'll have to spend some money. Now if you'll say how much you want I can go from there. I agree swapping a head on a 22r to get 180HP, show me the dyno sheet and I'll kiss your........
